The 24-hour Ticket in the UL App
It is now possible to redeem a 24-hour ticket in the UL app. At the same time it is easier to find the right ticket in that the number of ticket versions has been reduced from four to three.
Just before the vacation period UL will be launching an opportunity to purchase 24-hour tickets via the UL app. Very many people use the app and it is preferable that a number of ticket types will still be available to purchase in the phone.
“We are now taking an step further towards a system that makes it easier to be a passenger in public transit in that the number of versions of 24-hour tickets has been reduced from four to three," says Bertil Kinnunen (S), Chairman of the Public Transport Board.
“The number of users and the large quantity of tickets sold via the UL app also show that the focus on providing opportunities to handle both tickets and information about the travel in digital mobile format is completely right," says Bertil Kinnunen.
There are three versions of the 24-hour ticket:
Uppsala city, zone 1, adult SEK 80, youth SEK 48
Entire UL service, adult SEK 150, youth SEK 90
UL/SL which means that tickets are valid in the entire UL and SL service including the SL commuter train, adult SEK 230, youth SEK 130.
The above fares apply to purchases in the UL app, in UL’s ticket machines, at UL Center and sales agents. UL/SL tickets are also sold at SL Center and at the commuter train ticket barriers. For purchases on board buses and the Upptåget train, SEK 8 will be added.
On a regular weekday approx. 6,500 single tickets are sold via the app which is equivalent to just over 10% of total single ticket sales. This shows that many people want to handle their ticket purchases by phone.
Since 24-hour tickets were introduced on April 1, 2014 sales have increased and up until now a total of almost 20,000 tickets were sold. The UL/SL version clearly sold the most.
