Faster Public Transit Along the Östhammar Route August 2017

As line 288 is improved, new opportunities are also opening up to provide faster public transit along the route. A proposal has been drawn up where the basic idea is that journey will go faster through a sharp increase in express travel and that buses will also go along straighter lines.

This means that the service between the larger places will be improved, while residents between the places have a little further to go to reach the stop. Therefore at the same time opportunities for parking cars or bicycles to change to bus will be improved.

The proposal for the new transit arrangement has been out for public consultation and in December 2016 UL conducted the dialog meetings in three different locations along the route. After that the proposal was amended and improved.

The decision was made by the Public Transport Board on March 6, 2017 and on August 14, 2017 that the new transit arrangement for the östhammar route will be implemented.
