About your school card

Your school card is personal 

Your school card may only be used by the student it was issued to. It is not valid for any accompanying passengers. Misuse of the card may result in the card and the right to free school travel being withdrawn.

The school card is only intended for school travel. You may not add other tickets or travel funds to the card. If you do, please note that:

• No loss protection applies to travel funds or additional tickets.
• If the school card is reported lost, the card will be blocked. Any travel credit or other tickets on the card will also be lost and cannot be used again.
• The card cannot be managed or serviced at UL Center.

Validity

During the 2026/2027 school year, the school card is valid 17 August – 22 December 2026 and 7 January – 11 June 2027.

The school card is valid for free travel on weekdays (Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays) between 4.00 am and 7.00 pm on UL buses, the SL commuter train between Uppsala and Arlanda and Mälartåg on the routes Uppsala–Sala, Uppsala–Gävle, and Uppsala–Arlanda/Märsta. The last part of the journey home must start no later than 7.00 pm.

Remember to tap your card

You must always bring your school card when travelling. Tap your card against the ticket reader every time you board a bus or before boarding a train. If you do not have your card with you, or if it is lost, blocked or has not yet arrived by post, you must pay for your own journey. Traveling without a valid ticket can result in a surcharge.

If your card stops working

Take good care of your school card. It is a valuable document. Do not make holes in the card or damage it in any way, as it may stop working. If your card stops working, a UL bus driver or UL Center can give you a damaged-card receipt. This can be used as a ticket for up to seven days.

Please report the problem and order a replacement card as soon as possible.

If you lose your card

If you or your child loses the school card, report it and order a replacement card as soon as possible. A new card will be sent to the student's address within seven working days.

Until the new card arrives, you must pay for your own travel.

If you withdraw from school

If a student withdraws from school during the school year, their school card will be deactivated and can no longer be used.

Travel safety

Children aged 6–12 who travel to school by bus can find useful safety information on skolskjutsen.se. Travelling by bus is generally very safe. However, it is important for children to know what to do if an accident or other unexpected situation occurs.
